Double X #4

I saw this Block here at Barristers Block blog, called Boxes and Baskets.
I thought it very nice.
In Judy Hopkins Block book, it is DoubleX#4

Here is a quilt using EQ7 using this block.
In EQ7 it is Double X no4

Six inch blocks

I have been making these blocks for a long time.

This is one I particularly like.

Judy Hopkins in "501 Rotary Cut Quilt blocks
calls this "True Blue"
This is the book together with EQ7
which I use to construct my blocks.

Here is a quilt made up of this block, done in EQ7

Old Kaleidoscope block

I thought this was very interesting-
Barbara Brackman has a lot of information on her blog.
I drafted a block and pieced it by the foundation method.
Three  diamonds make a large hexagon.

You can see that it is made from 3 diamond shapes
The main design element is the black.
Use any colour, any shape for the other fabrics, but the middle piece(the black in this case) should be the same in every block.

Here is a link to a web site showing an antique quilt
made with this method,

Trying to emulate an old granny scrap quilt

This was an easy quilt to make from my scraps and stash. The quilting took a far while however. My main idea was to make the quilt look old. I haven't washed it yet, so that will help.
